Creating an unlivable environment

Today in Biology we were talking about ecological succession and how pioneer species (usually lichens followed by moss) help create soil that other plants need. But later you don’t see very many pioneer species once there’s a lot more plant life, it’s because they had created an environment that they couldn’t live in. My best-friend then raised her hand and asked weren’t humans doing that to. Our teacher replied yes we are but we like our lifestyle to much to really do anything about how we were polluting and disturbing the ecosystem. My friend and I later talked about how this made us an even more invasive species not that we aren’t the most invasive species on the planet.
